Our design philosophy for automatically resetting targets is one of "high reactivity". In other words, the easier it is for the bullet to move the plate, the less damage the bullet will do to the plate. This has the side benefit of providing good visual feedback to the shooter and spotter at distances far exceeding typical target systems of their size and type.

All of our target systems are designed to be easily assembled and dis-assembled by hand without the need for any tools. All of the target systems are designed to occupy the least amount of storage and transportation space possible with most of our systems folding up flat for easy handling, storage, and stackability.

When properly used, the only part of our targets visible to the shooter is the target plate. Experienced shooters know that any part of the target that "can" be hit "will" be hit. No part of the target stand or mechanism is exposed to damage causing down time or need for repair or replacement of target parts.

Where applicable the targets include built-in carry handles, ground stakes, and ample shelf space for sand bagging where needed in poor soil conditions. In addition, all of the automatic target systems can be easily bolted to saw horses, tables or benches for variations in height where desired. Alternatively, they can also be bolted to a short section of railroad tie buried to grade for secure permanent installation on public or private ranges.

All of our rifle systems and some pistol systems have target plates that are made from AR500 steel - the industry standard for steel high power rifle targets.

All of our rifle targets are rated for a minimum of .30 caliber projectiles and all target systems should be used in accordance with our safety and use guidelines.

Nothing lasts forever, and that includes steel targets. But you can greatly extend the lifespan of your targets by following some simple rules of thumb. Bullet velocity, not necessarily bullet weight, is the primary cause of damage to target plates because speed=heat at impact. Please read the safety and use guidelines for specific recommendations concerning target distance vs. bullet speed. This is particularly important if you shoot high velocity rounds such at .22-250, .243, .270, etc. While these lighter faster rounds have a lot of kinetic energy (which causes heat) they don't have a lot of momentum (which moves target plates). These rounds may not produce much target plate movement, but will produce a very audible sound when striking the target.

Nobody's steel target systems are cheap, or if they are you probably don't want them. Pro Plate Target Systems strives to give you the best value for your dollar possible.
